The myth of the Peaks, or billfish. In Mexico, it's quite common to hear that capturing Picos or Billfish with a speargun is illegal, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The capture of these majestic creatures simply involves adherence to distinct regulations.
In contrast to snappers, groupers, barracudas, etc., where fishermen can capture up to 5 specimens of the same species per day, Picos have different rules. Only one specimen per boat is allowed per day.
Understanding and following these essential regulations is crucial, as they play a pivotal role in ensuring that we can continue to cherish the breathtaking beauty of the Mexican Caribbean Sea for years to come.
